General Description: large head and teeth, short stocky body

Habitat: island-state of Tasmania

Behavior: solitary scavenger, nocturnal animal

Diet: carrion, wallabies, wombats, kangaroos, lizards, frogs, snakes, birds, and eggs

Reproduction: gestation period is 21 days, up to 20 young are born; they stay in the pouch for 4 months
