General Description: oviparous (egg-laying) mammal covered with hair and spines, has long beak and sticky tongue

Habitat: among rocks, in hollow logs

Behavior: solitary, burrowing animal

Reproduction: female lays a single egg; the egg hatches in 10 days, the baby is born blind and hairless
